Demo

We’re working hard on a 6 song demo that will be available to download for your listening pleasure.Keep checkin in.

Thanks to all that came to see us at Fayetteville’s 1st Thursday last week. We had a great time. The only downside was we had to cut our set short because of the impending lightening storm that was barreling toward us. Fret not, we have a few dates in the works coming up shortly. We’ll probably just pick up where we left off. See you soon!

Sweet Summer Rain

Leave it to the rain to inspire another song…”Sweet Summer Rain”.

By the way, I’ve been playing my songs with a couple of friends for about a month now and we’re about ready to let others listen in. So if you have a place for us to come play, let me know!

New Songs

I’ve been writing a couple of new songs this week. One is called “Half a Song” which is about a guy working through a divorce and the other doesn’t have a title yet. It’s about the 1975 International Scout I used to have. I’ll probably call it “That old ‘75″. I definitely have a good crop of songs to take to the studio when it’s time to head in.

Done

It’s Done! The album is done and just arrived at my house. I am putting it for sale on CDBaby.com this week so it should be ready to purchase sometime next week.

I also just finished recording two other songs for the Summer Camp video at NLR. We covered “Creed” by Rich Mullins and “Hosanna” by Hillsong United. These were a good challenge for us, but I think they turned out fine. I would have loved to spend more time on Creed especially but there’s always deadlines and there’s only so much money to pay for the time. I’ll try to post the songs here shortly for your listening pleasure.

Check back soon for info on buying “Wide Open”!

Almost Done

I sent the CD off to be be mastered this afternoon! What a great feeling. All I need now is a proof, some artwork (it’ll be good…it’s Ben West), and some sleep. I’m pleased with how it turned out so far and I expect it to be great after mastering. I’ve added a few goodies to the CD. It’ll wrap up with live recordings of three songs from the NLR 50th celebration. Target date for release is June 5th. Later

Pics from the Studio

So here’s a few more pics from recording this year’s NLR theme song, “Change”.

Latest from the Studio

I’m finally finished tracking all the songs on the Theme album! Now on to mixing, mastering, naming the album, artwork and duplicating. No big deal. Check out this pic Bailey took of me ripping on a Gibson SG. We piped the tracks through some PA speakers into the room I was in so it felt more like I was playing live. I find it a lot easier getting into the song when it’s loud and you can feel the bass. I believe this was taken during the last session for this year’s theme song.

NLR THeme Project III

I’m excited to say that this year’s theme song is written and we are tracking it today in the studio. Everything else is being mixed down so I’m really close to having this project finally complete. It’s been fun reliving some of these old songs. I took the liberty to change a couple of them a bit to put a little life in ‘em. We added some string arrangements, stacked some vocals, and had fun with a little speaker and a big microphone (see pic).I’m shooting to have it completed and duplicated by the end of May so we can have it ready for the start of summer. NLR Theme Song Project II

Well, now that the 50th celebration is long over, vacation is done, and I have a little breathing room, I made it back into the studio to get cracking again on the theme album. Last Wednesday, I laid down the rest of the electric guitar parts so now all I lack is some acoustic guitar, vocals,  a little piano and organ, aux. percussion, and whatever else comes up. So far, all has gone well. The studio has a plethora of guitars, so if I get bored of one I just go grab another. I don’t have another date set but I’m sure it will be soon, and I’ll let you know when I do.

The 50th Concert

Well, after months of planning and hours of rehearsal, we finally played our show at New Life Ranch. It’s amazing how quickly an hour passes when you’re having the time of your life. It’s also amazing how quick an hour seems in comparison to the hours and hours of preparation that it takes. I am blessed to have such a great group of guys to play with. They made great sacrifices to make this day happen, so Brett, Jason, Chris, and Andrew…thank you. It was a pleasure. It was rough starting out yesterday, but it didn’t seem to phase you guys one bit.

Maybe the coolest moment was to see my friend Chris King get emotional at the end of the last song. Chris is the guy I learned so much from when I first started playing guitar, so it was an honor to share the stage with him. Chris, you mean the world to me. You will always be my friend. I owe much of who I am today to you. Thank you for always believing in me.

Many of you were disappointed you couldn’t be there for the show. Good news is we recorded the whole thing. In a week or so, I’ll start listening to the tracks and see if we were able to get anything worth using. Sometimes it may sound great live, but to play well enough to get something good on tape is another story. So, we’ll see what we get. I hope to at least get something to supplement the NLR theme album I’m working on.

Well, now that the day has finally come and gone, I’ll be able to pick up where I left off  working on the NLR theme album and I have also been writing more songs that I want to track as soon as possible. I’ll also be looking to play more this next year around the area. That’s about it…
